Today I want to share with you a song by Jimi Hendrix entitled "Machine Gun". It's an anti-war song, and I think it fitting for modern times considering the Syrian War, troops remaining in Afghanistan, ISIL etc. as it was when first recorded some 45 years ago. Enjoy Peace Always, Shakira

This saying is true. ...but it's also imperative that we realize the past, present and future are innate!!!! Yes, history can be distorted but we are the future. Let's not live in the past, pain stays there. .yet let's work together to make our future ever so bright and joyous! We must realize the power ,we, humanity has. Stop giving our joy and personal power away to those who wish to see you anything but in a happy state. Peace Always,
Shakira This is an article that was shared with me by one of my friends ( Thanks Ben!!!)
Parents like me send our children to school every weekday morning entrusting the adults there to educate them and to cultivate, encourage and promote innovation and creativity among them. More importantly, I trust that my children are protected from any harm – not arrested and interrogated without my presence or that of an attorney by law enforcement officers for trying to intellectually impress the very adults we ask them to trust and with whom they spend most of their days. So as a a mother of three public school students and a Muslim, I am outraged that 14-year-old Ahmed Mohamed was removed from his classes, handcuffed, led out in front of his classmates and brought to a juvenile detention center for building a homemade clock and bringing it to school to show a teacher. I am horrified that officials did not follow protocol by calling his parents or offering him an attorney –demonstrating to me that there is a special justice system set up for Muslims, including Muslim children. And it broke my heart when I read that, after his arrest he said, “It made me feel like I wasn’t human” and “it made me feel like a criminal.” But as much as I am outraged at the treatment this young boy endured, I’m dumbfounded at the ignorance of the adults in his school including the police who literally cannot tell the difference between a clock, a bomb and a “fake bomb”, let alone the kind of kid who might bring any of the above. What message does Ahmed’s treatment by his own teachers send to American Muslim students, aspiring inventors, innovators and engineers? We have spent billions of dollars promoting the math and sciences in schools across the United States – but I guess the people who designed those outreach efforts didn’t mean for Muslim kids to take the bait. The only plausible explanation for a teacher at a school chartered for innovation to respond to a student’s invention with incarceration is that the student was Sudanese American and Muslim, and the teacher, like many Americans, had been saturated with anti-Muslim bigotry and Islamophobia. The irrational response of school officials in Irving, Texas isn’t limited to one student, one school, one city or even one state. In 2015, anyone can engage in bigotry against Arab Americans and American Muslims and seemingly get away with it. Bigotry against us is acceptable (and sometimes even politically necessary) for elected officials, candidates for public office, pundits and others to advance their careers – or their television ratings. Muslim children in the United States aren’t sheltered from the vitriol against their faith and communities happening every day. They are on social media, they hear about the armed men protesting in front of mosques, they watch movies reinforcing stereotypes about them, they watch grown adults running for their president of the United States speaking ill of Islam and equating terrorists with Muslims. I am tired of answering the young people with whom I work – many of whom are Arab American, American Muslims and/or South Asian – when they ask me “Why do they hate us?” “How do we make them like us?” Ahmed Mohamed reminds me of many of our children – including my own. He is a young, intelligent young man who enjoys inventing and building things. He has a messy bedroom, a Nasa t-shirt, parents who love him and want to teach him the right things. Ahmed and all children of color deserve to be treated with dignity and respect – and we must demonstrate our belief in their abilities. We can, as a country, only be as successful as the children we raise to eventually lead us. We have to, as a nation, understand that the hate we allow to go unchecked and the fear we inculcate in the next generation of professionals and leaders causes them great damage and ultimately damages all of us. Every single adult that conspired to criminalize and extinguish the talent and spirit of Ahmed must be held accountable, for him and for the rest of us. It should not require a perfect victim – like Ahmed – for us to finally declare that bigotry against an entire faith community is unacceptable. There are many Ahmed’s watching every move of the adults around them. Let us not disappoint them again. Today I share with you one of my favorite M.J songs. I think it essential that we realize how the planet and all her inhabitants are consociated. We are just as connected to #CecilTheLion as we are to Trayvon Martin, Renisha Mcbride, Dillion Taylor, Freddie Gray or nameless other victims of murder. Or the gay couple who were denied their marriage license in Kentucky as we are to any homeless person on any city street. We are just as connected to the #SyrianRefugees or any other refugee for that matter of fact ,as we are to the vast amount of global forest, oceans, seas, lakes, deserts, mountains and so forth. Love, respect, emotion and intellect are the nexus that holds daily interactions together. A glue of sorts for humanity. The complete loss of respect, love, emotion or intellect of 2 or more groups are the cause of the ongoing problems of war, religious, economic, and political oppression. When 2 or more work against the uplifting cause of another, then it becomes systematic. And any man or woman who operates on a system of prejudice and bias are using only 1/8 of human potential. It is far more productive for us all, to practice fairness and empathy. Just as one has family members who may have beliefs that may coincide with ours, or practices that we may find odd. We become sad or irate should we hear of any wrong doing committed against them. Despite not always having a meeting of the minds, it doesn't take away from the fact that we love, pray for and wish them all the best. Well, all people of planet Earth are our family.....our big, crazy family...that we love threw it all !!! Rest in peace M.J. Hello dear friends, today I want to pose to you the question, what is success? How does one obtain it? Why does it seem to evade some people? Now, I'm not going to pretend to be some sage who has all the answers...no, but instead I will express my perceptions. Yes, success can be fleeting. At times when you're in the process of career building, you step back and take a look at others who seem to be where you desire to be. It doesn't seem fair because you know that within you there is so much, if not more to offer humanity!
But what I have realized is that good things take time! One will not become successful overnight. Dedication, determination, and dignity must remain in tact, also humility has to be maintained. Being true to one self is the nexus that keeps the successful together. Just as masons lie down the solid foundation to build, your diligence, truthiness, talent and faith are needed for your budding empire. Pay no mind to what others are doing. They are only living out the purpose that God has for them. Keep pushing and moving forward!!! Think about the good things to come. Do not dwell on the past, refrain from any form of negativity. Follow your passion, don't lust for money. At all cost, retain your soul !!! One can't lose their self in the name of success!!! What the creator has for you will be obtained. Who set the measure for success? Who says that a happy marriage, beautiful children, nicer home, financial stability and piety aren't success? To associate materialism with success is immaterial. We must change our mindset. Remember to chase your aspirations with fervor, integrity and humility. Be steadfast, kickback and and wait for your reward. I dedicate this post today to my younger sister #FeliciaChi (FeliciChi.com) who has talent beyond belief. Keep your head up sweetheart!!! And also this is for all who may feel discouraged in their profession. The sun will shine, your hard work will not be in vain! Peace always.... Shakira Hello dear friends, rarely in a person's life do they have the gift of knowing such exceptional talented beings. But when one does, they must share with the world. Share with the world so that they might understand the immense joy and gratitude that has been bestowed upon the person in contact with this pure, lively, talented energy!!! All so in hopes that the world too, will partake, relish, support and share in a broader vision.
I have such the opportunity to know this phenomenal person, because this person Felicia Chi, is my younger sister, an up and coming fashion designer! ! I know you ask why is she so great? Well I'll tell you, if you're familiar with my story. Then you'll understand. This young woman also comes from the tumultuous environment, that would have ripped and shattered the psyche of anyone else not possessing the strongest of minds!!! My sister didn't sit and make excuses. Yes, we grew up in abject poverty. Yes, we suffered abuses. Yes, we were forced out of school early by our tyrannical, wicked, abusive father. Yet Felicia Chi has risen!! She returned to school, better yet enrolled and graduated from Philadelphia Art Institute with honors and a 3.9 gpa!! And now she brings to you her inner artistic vision!! Felicia Chi's designs are nothing short of awesome !!!! Please check her website out!! Spread the word and website link to family, friends and colleagues. I'm sure that you will fall in love and want to own a piece of timeless art. Peace.....below is the link http://www.felicichi.com Here once again, I'm at the point of deep reflection. Through God, I know that we have a cosmic connection. The kind of love that evades fear of rejection, ego or pride. I need not any of these vanities for emotional protection. For if I'm ever hurt, only you can bring my resurrection. I'm focused with one mental direction....in your arms is where I belong, from present to infinity. The gaze of your eyes, the Whispers from your mouth is where I find serenity. Should you ever leave me, I will surely die......not in the mundane sense. For you are the epitome of what true love represents. If ever you were void in my life, I would never love this deeply again. You are the wind that lends breathe to my lungs....the cause, my inspiration, the catalyst of my daily elation. Just one word from you and all day I'm on cloud 9 In mine eyes, you are more than fine.....your mind, your words. ...your being sublime. With no doubts cast, I know that our love is divine and with God, may it continue to stand the test of time. ♡
********Warning, very graphic video******* Hello my dear friends, today I'm posting something disturbing....it breaks my heart at the core to watch the senseless murder of this young man. I've had so many people that I've come into contact with, cry out ,that the killings of unarmed men of color across America is purely race related........ I reiterate, it is not!! And I stand by my opinion. We, the people, the people of not only America but the globe, need to realize that sin and wicked energies have no color!! Please don't let our beautiful differences cause division. When I have an out cry, I don't cry for Americans, blacks or whites. But for humanity....Justice all over the globe. May love and peace reign for all my brothers and sisters of humanity of ALL shades and colors! Peace Always.....Shakira This is a positive step into the right direction!!!
WASHINGTON, May 13 (Reuters) - The U.S. House of Representatives on Wednesday approved a bill that would end spy agencies' bulk collections of Americans' telephone data, setting up a potential showdown with the U.S. Senate over the program that expires on June 1. As voting continued, the House overwhelmingly backed the USA Freedom Act, which would end the bulk collection program and instead give intelligence agencies access to telephone data and other records only when a court finds there is reasonable suspicion about a link to international terrorism. The bill's fate is much less certain in the Senate, where many key lawmakers would rather reauthorize the existing bulk data collection program than approve the Freedom Act. Hello my dear friends, I hope all is well ! (Thanks Emerald !! ). Before I touch on today's topic I want to first ask my readers to keep the families and deceased citizens of Nepal in your prayers and thoughts. As we've all heard, there has been civil unrest in Baltimore, Maryland. According to news reports, this is the chosen response to the murder of Freddie Gray while in police custody. This seems to be the trend nowadays...so sad. Where do you go? What can you do? Watching and reading various news reports..I've noticed a common theme. The race of the victim is always emphasized. Why? Why would the media perpetuate bigotry? Personally, I think it sends the wrong message to the viewer. If you listen long enough, you may start to believe that race plays a part in how the serious crime of murder is handled by the judicial system ,especially when committed by those who made an oath to protect and serve. And to add insult to injury, the previous criminal record of the victim is always brought into play. Can you believe? What has this world come to? I believe that we must look at what's happening on a deeper level here. Sure, bigotry hasn't vanished from the minds of those who wish to divide and conquer, this is evident in the news reports that have uber amounts of racial overtones. And the sly language used that's not one "black" away from inciting a senseless race / civil war. People we are first human, we're not black or white, or brown or yellow, we're not even American first. But human, and each human being has the capacity to practice each and every emotion the Creator of all has given us! We all know what it feels like to love, hate, be sad, elated, pessimistic, optimistic etc... We all need and want the best for our children. We all need and want security, and a safe environment for our families, children, grandchildren and so on. Which brings me to the source of the problem that we're witnessing across America. If we look at the typical urban household, you can safely surmise that the solution to the festering ills of the ghetto can be solved through financial means. Let's also take note, that in rural areas, there is an increase of Meth labs. Like crack cocaine of the 80's, "Ice" is destroying middle America. And like the ghetto, these areas are laden with socio-economic crimes. This fact isn't exploited on your local news channel. And the perpetrators are not black, or brown, but white Americans. So we've established that law breakers are of various colors. And it's widely known and accepted that currency is needed to provide stability and more opportunities for our future generations. With an open mind, envision this scenario: There is a teenage boy living in any given city or rural area in America. His father is locked away for chasing MONEY illegally (McDonald's corporation is debating whether to pay employee $15 per hour??!! Corporate greed hurts us all!) which in turn the father becomes a commodity that generates MONEY for the state, the boy's mother doesn't have the time to properly teach or instill the necessary values and morals into her son's psyche because she's working to bring MONEY into the household. Meanwhile the child is being poorly educated because the upper echelons of their local government don't find it important to fund the schools with more MONEY for better education. The reason why these politicians don't deem it important is because their parents are not high on the tax bracket and don't pay as much MONEY as suburban tax payers. The police are short tempered and trigger happy because they don't receive enough MONEY for what their job entails. Do you see the pattern?..... the vicious cycle. MONEY is at the root of man's hardship and troubles. No, I'm not saying that money is root of all evil, but I'll say how it's distributed is the evil here. The lop sided political systems that deny financial solidarity that all Americans.....all people desire. It's like born rich, stay rich...born poor...you know the rest..They're a few exceptions to this rule, though the percentages should be greater. Let's really look at this..rich people are considered rich because they have more currency than the masses, right? Now what if each person had equal credits in their bank accounts? The rich would no longer exist!! Yes, the rich only exist because the poor do! Without poor how would we know rich? We must realize that some ( not all !!) extremely wealthy people have an unwarranted god complex. In other words, if they couldn't look down on the poor of all colors, gawk and laugh at them then their wealth would be in vain, or so they feel. I have heard wealthy people say that money makes them numb. Meaning they lose that fervor for life they once had when they were poor. Imagine walking the line where nothing impressed you, nothing made you happy, where you didn't have to work and save for your vacation or anything else you may want! Believe it or not, this is where us blue collar people get our joy...with that first dollar saved. To the last dollar spent for that much deserved vacation. This struggle my friends is what gives our lives purpose, gives our lives meaning.( God is truly the answer, but sadly MONEY is needed to worship in most temples. MONEY has become God to many people!!) It's our responsibility to give these children something to look forward to. In their minds eye, the future looks bleak. Our children are constantly bombarded with negativity and disparity. What you're seeing in Baltimore is not a battle of black and white. Please don't allow mass media to shape our minds further, causing subconscious racist ideology and division. When occupy wall street took place, the police were just as violent towards white college kids who initially were peacefully protesting against financial greed that is so overwhelming on Wall Street, it stinks!! Skin color goes away when MONEY is involved!! All that's seen....is the green! Former Blackwater Guard Sentenced To Life In Prison For Baghdad Shooting
WASHINGTON, April 13 (Reuters) - U.S. District Court Judge Royce Lamberth sentenced former Blackwater security guard Nicholas Slatten to life in prison for murder in connection with the 2007 massacre of 14 unarmed Iraqis, closing a chapter of the U.S. war in Iraq that tested relations between the two countries. Slatten had been convicted by a jury in October. (Reporting by Lindsay Dunsmuir; Writing by Lisa Lambert; Editing by Eric Walsh) This is a step in the right direction !!! Pennsylvania Woman Who Helped Husband Rape Daughter Gets At Least 15 Years
By Elizabeth Daley PITTSBURGH, April 2 (Reuters) - A Pennsylvania woman convicted of helping her husband rape her teenaged daughter in an effort to conceive a baby that the woman could raise as her own was sentenced to 15 to 30 years in prison on Thursday, her lawyer said. Misty Machinshok, 33, of Wilkes-Barre pleaded guilty in January to charges including rape, assault, endangering the welfare of a child and conspiracy. Prosecutors said Machinshok was unable to have another child and wanted the 15-year-old girl to become pregnant so she could raise the baby. They said Machinshok assisted in the rape by pushing the girl onto her husband and suggesting the best positions for getting her pregnant. Prosecutor Nancy Violi called the crime "the most heinous" she had dealt with in 14 years on the job. The rape came to light when one of the girl's friends alerted a teacher who called police, Violi said. The girl was raped more than once in 2013 after the couple met through a website called onlinebootycall.com, Violi said. Gary Machinshok, 29, has pleaded no contest, cooperated with prosecutors and testified against his wife. He also was charged with sexually assaulting Misty Machinshok's younger daughter, age 11 at the time. He is slated to be sentenced on Monday. Misty Machinshok's lawyer Mary Deady would not comment. Violi said both victims are in foster care. Hello friends, it's been a while I know. I hope all is well !!
As you may already know, I believe in practicing evolutionary acts, if you will, on a daily basis should it be possible. No guts, no glory has become a phrase that I've added to my list of inspirational mantras!! Funny thing is, this can also be applied to the way we dress! How you ask? Well, let me give you an example. Just a few days ago I had to run some errands....which consisted mostly of paying bills......arrrgh!!..lol ! Going to my closet, I knew that the ultimate dressing goal was comfort. So I grabbed one of my favorite kurtis, which happens to be green with small designs all over. And a pair of loose fitting black and white paisley print pant. Now my sister is a fashion designer, who gives me the do's and don'ts to guide me on my quest to look "gucci, boss, dope" (or however you want to say it!!).....when needed. So I knew from jump that this was a fashion no-no! Yet, I wore this anyways. Why you ask? Because I could, because I wanted to, because I was practicing and feeling a sense of true freeness with this act. With each look I received, I felt that much more empowered! And I'm no attention whore, trust me!! I'm that socially awkward girl, standing in the corner, holding a glass of champagne for over a hour, watching everyone else have fun at the party. But what empowered me was knowing that I accept me, I love me, I live for God and me, not soceity!! ( hey that rhymes, lol!!). No, onlookers do not dictate my joy, my fashion, my sense of belonging......or not!! I'm an abstract being and I embrace this. I ask my readers to try this sometime. Take in how good it feels to not be a slave to visual concepts. To defy societal demands of what's an appropriate or normal dress code within the pyramid scheme. Walk your own way, be your own righteous leader!! Peace always~ Shakira "The farther backward you can look, the farther forward you can see"- Winston Churchill
Here we go again!! In light of the recent shootings of Mike Brown, Akai Gurley, Tamir Rice all carried out by officers who unconsciously saw these young men as threats. I'm asking , "Does America really need anymore music that glamorizes violence within the community"? Now I'm not out to bash this up and coming rapper. And I understand that people may be tired of the hyper sexualized female rapper personas that are being cast to the masses. But this is not the solution I'm here to say!! Now being one who was reared primarily in the urban demographic, I understand wholeheartedly the tentative ways of maneuvering in the delicate, egotistically fragile, shifty, often time, hairy terrain of the "ghetto". The situation can go from sugar to shit real quick!! Yes, I can understand the concept of protecting one's family, but this is not the answer. We know all too well how "tryin" someone in hood equates to something so simple as stepping on one's shoe, making eye contact one second too long (the length of time varies from person to person), or daring to move up and out of this demographic. So my friends, tread lightly!! In this song, she goes on to say that she is a nazi!! When has being a nazi ever been a revered or positive thing? She also states that she has a heart full of demons! And if you try her, she will get your whole family.....in laymen terms...she will kill one's whole family. Grandma, kiddies and the family pet included!! This wicked energy is being injected into the psyche of our youth. Sure, she isn't to blame for the high numbers of crime in poor communities, but with lyrics like these, things certainly won't be getting peaceful anytime soon, quite the contrary. Numerous studies have been done about the effects of music. It has the ability to increase I.Q, ( Obstetricians recommend pregnant women place classical music next to their stomachs while pregnant to increase baby's I.Q. And studies have shown it effective!!), lift one's mood (Therapist have been known to use music therapy with patients suffering from depression), or it has the ability to start political unrest ( Music played a integral part of Mao's Chinese Revolution). In other words, the power music has is unlimited!! Our children have to be trained how to think independently to undo the nefarious indoctrination of sociopathic entertainers. With that being said, what do you think the secondary response will be with someone who has just been induced with such wicked ethos? What we must understand my dear friends, is that this doesn't just affect poor people of color. We are all in this melting pot named America. The ill acts done in urban areas affects us all. We must stand in unison to counteract this poison that is being sold to our children. Grandma always said "All that glitters ain't gold". This includes cd's and the fallacious claims of being somehow better than mainstream non-artist under the guise of being independent. I have posted the video as well as the lyrics so you can see Satan for yourself. Peace always- Shakira Let a nigga try me, try me I'm a get his whole mothafuckin' family And I ain't playin wit nobody Fuck around and I'm a catch a body [Verse 1] Bitch I got the mac or the 40 Turn a bitch to some macaroni Tell me how you want it I'm on it I really mean it I'm just not recordin' Give lil bro the choppa for all you actors Leave a bitch nigga head in pasta You are an impostor, ain't got no money Put the burner to his tummy, and make it bubbly I really hate niggas I'm a Nazi Love wearin' all black, you should see my closet Rock that all white, when I'm feelin' Godly Hop out like Coke, I ain't gotta park it Fuck is y'all saying, bitch my hood love me 48214 real niggas know me I been out my mind since they killed my cousin Free my cousin Devin, man he just called me All these niggas love me, can't get 'em off me Fuck around gave him my number, he won't stop callin' IBGM the clique bitch you see us scorin' V.I.P in the plural, while yo section borin' Got a bitch that set it off like Jada Pinkett, Queen Latifah You rollin' around wit yo nieces bitch T.T Mind full of money, got a heart full of demons Mobbin' like Italians, we really take yo fingas Turn yo face into a pizza, no acne Have you singin' like Alicia, fuck wit my family They be like you little, but got damn she spazzin' Do the whole crew, my bitches freak nasty [Chorus x2] [Verse 2] Bitch I got the Tommy no Hilfiger Lil Dej ain't bout it, bitch how you figure I don't do no drugs, I be off liquor So lifted, flyer than yo girl, baby gone and take my picture See I gotta get this money, my palms itchin' Niggas gossip like hoes, most of 'em bitches I don't wanna do no songs, I don't wanna kick it And I ain't signin' to no label, bitch I'm independent As a parent, I think that it's imperative that we allow our children to grow. It's my strong belief that we should embrace and encourage our children to pursue interest that appeal to them. I affirm that we each have our own unique talents. There is a child out here that will find the cure for cancer or aids. There is the next Beethoven or Bach maybe fetching water from a well in a third world country. There is an child who can become the next physicist who discovers the formula for time travel. Somewhere, he or she is here, but will they be afforded the unbiased patronage as a child born of wealth? Or are we too busy struggling to keep food on the table to realize what gifts we have, the world has , right under our noses? Our children are indeed our future!! We can not give them over to hip hop artist, tv, video games, or an otherwise unproductive culture. We the people must raise our children up. We must encourage them so that the future may be brighter!! Below is a clip of my youngest son playing his first electric guitar. Though I know that he is not a Jimi Hendrix, Prince or Slash just yet, I'm astonished that he taught himself this. :-) Rock on Poppi!!! An Ohio elementary school teacher and her ex-husband face a total of 78 counts in the rape of the woman's son. On Monday, Lori Ann Anderson, 50, pleaded not guilty to 25 counts, including sexual battery and gross sexual imposition. Charles Wycuff, 53, who split with Anderson in 2003, faces 53 counts including rape using force, coercion and drugs, according to WHIO. He remains in Auglaize County Jail. Anderson was released Monday afternoon, after posting bond, according to the New York Post. The Daily Beast reports that the sole victim in the case is Anderson's son, who went to police in 2011 to report the abuse years after he said it happened, between 1997 and 1999. A special prosecutor investigated the case for more than two years before filing charges against the estranged couple on Friday. Anderson has taught first through third graders in the Wapakoneta City Schools system for 29 years, and has no prior criminal record. The school district said it wouldn't comment because of the active investigation. Anderson is preparing to stand trial. Her lawyer, Richard Kerger, told the Daily Beast that Wycuff was "in charge of orchestrating" the abuse and that Anderson is "relieved to tell her side of it.” "She likes teaching kids, young kids," Kerger said. |
