Hey fam...Hope all is well?! Today I want to touch on our indigenous roots as so called "black Americans". As an American, I've been told that I have "Indian" in my family; after surveying many black Americans, I found that all I asked, were told the same thing!! I've taken a DNA test, my indigenous "blood" didn't show up...at the time, I didn't know that DNA test couldn't determine ones ethnicity!! The blood samples DNA companies use are from the Siberian stock, commonly called "Native American". 23 & me, Ancestry, sorry to say, but they are scams. They have every black American pegged as being Nigerian descent! Smh. I have relatives that have taken them and despite my knowing for a fact they have no Nigerian blood, they still sell us this blantant lie! For entertainment purposes is in the small print. The test I took was quite expensive and it traced my deep ancestry: about 50, 000 years ago. No West African was present! My paramount point is that black people were on this land mass before any Siberian or European. We Black Americans had our own tribal names, customs, languages before contact with the pilgrim. However, we've been stripped of our indigenous heritage and legacy. We've been miseducated, assimilated and manipulated!!! I'm in the process of doing my personal genealogy, I encourage all of you to do the same! After decades of running from myself, it feels good to be home! "I'm an avid student of life, love, and spirit. My blog isn't about external beauty per se, clothes, fashion, make-up,or even politics. No none of these things!! The articles that I write come from my heart and are about something simple yet complex, rugged yet fragile, dark yet light. Something beautiful yet at times can be ugly. I write about something that all reading this shouldn't take for granted. Life!! Something everlasting yet fleeting." - Shakira Z. Ch'i Peace Always |
